QUOTE
The HDR isn't only for The Lost Coast level however, it will be released as a general upgrade for Half-Life 2, which should give gamers with high end rigs a reason to replay it. When is all of this expected to happen? Within the next couple of weeks.

When asked about Team Fortress 2, all Doug said was "soon".
Ya, rly.

I just hope they don't "overdo" the HDR effect. Too much makes it look worse.

They stated that they did not focus on the "blur" effect as noted in most "HDR" games (quotes were neccesary)

They focused on the dynamic range(no shit heh) of lighting found in hl2.
Ya, rly.

I have a 37 meg video of the entire segment (somewhere around 6 mins I think)

I don't feel like getting in trouble, so PM me for a link, and you can't spread it around and don't post it in public...

It will. The 9800 has the same capabilities as the X800. It's just slower.

go download any of the x800 demos from ati and watch them not run on a 9800 without a wrapper

x800 supports a few things the 9800 doesn't
