of course for fancy effects it doesn't matter how 3ds renders them...it only matters how the engine renders it.

Boolean is fine, if you're having problems with it, you don't know how to model.

im not talking about doing a bolean subtraction of a box or some other simple task, it works fine for that, its when u wanna try making feks a bunker, that the bolean subtraction tool starts messing up. try attatching several boxes to each otheron a line, then subtracting them out of a bigger box, in 99 out of 100 trys, it will fail, and fail badly, leaving faces over the whole, and generally not doing what i ask of it.

I use it on very complex surfaces all the time, and it works flawlessly. Make sure all your surfaces are planar, and it will work fine.

here is the flaw im talking about so that u can see how easily it fucks up.

ofcourse if u have a way for me so that this doesnt happen i would be thankful, but i think the tool doesnt work right.

now if i do 2 separate extractions it works out well, but it takes 2 times longer, and when u have something more complex it doesnt work in 1 turn eighter, it kinda makes me feel they want modelling to take as long as possible.

I can't tell without the source file, but some of your vertex normals look borked, so that can't be good.

hmmm...
i really dont think u should use Boolean. only use it on simple objects or areas, or else u might have to cap the gaps manually, i time consuming job.
i use mostly extrudes, cuts, and splinage to make those details tongue.gif
