Right now I am figuring out how to turn forum discussions into part of the website.

So I need to know, How do you use these forums?
Do you go to the forum index you like and browse the topics?
Do you use the "New Posts" link on the top right of the forums?
Do you bookmark discussions you are involved in and return to them later?
Do you sign up for email updates and use those?
Ya, rly.

I log in and then scroll down almost to the bottom and click on Today's Active Topics for starters...lots of ways to go from there; Get active topics for:
today/this week/past two weeks/this month/past three months/this year; or click on a member's name and see their topic/posts & respond there; or start a new topic.

I do things the manual way. I have a bookmark for TCR and I scroll down and see which categories have been modified since I last signed in (there is a bug btw, where the new posts icon won't display if a sub-category of that particular category has new posts).

I don't venture much outside TCR because the other forums don't seem to be very active.

Well that helps a lot. But it turns out that my plan of building our own comments and forum system has taken a turn towards wanting to use forum topics for this.
We still might have to use our own though.

IP.Board is the latest board from IPB, and guess what? Our perpetual license we all got together to purchase? They don't sell that license any more, the license they sell now charges $100/year for upgrades. How sweet is that?
Ya, rly.

i just go down the main list of subforums and look for the new post icon then click on the forums with new posts, then click on the topics with new posts, then read the new posts, and then finally reply to the new posts.

lol, philosophy majors were so funny in college. to have a degree in thinking you would think they would think how the fuck they would get a job thinking. but to think about it  i spent 6.5 years in college still no job in what i did; think about that!

I remember when pussy was just awesome by itself. It was the best thing ever. Just when I thought it couldn't get better, BAM! They started landscaping it.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

Give a man religion and he'll sit there, praying for fish, until he and his family starve to death.

PHPBB3 is on the verge of release, and it's free. I don't know how it compares to IPB but it should at least be considered.
