That AK skin has a very nice normal map, but I prefer my lower-grain, darker skin.

PS: That's a nice knife, but very, very cartoony. However, all of my reskins are simple overlays so I shouldn't say anything...

"Bumpmaps" is just a term valve used to get people to understand what they did, it's really a normal maš with a specular mask.

It was not bumpmapped before, no default weapon skins are.

I sent this in a PM to black-wolf, but I may as well post it here as well:

You can use the normal map with your existing skin. Just install this one and when it asks for permission to overwrite "rif_ak47skin1.vtf", say no.

Try using the darken or multiply blend mode on your blood layer.

Working on a normal map for it actually, won't include the blood, it was really hard to satisfy everyone.

Wait, even after reading I wasn't quite sure, what's the difference between normal and bump mapping. MY understanding is that bump mapping add's reflection and shinyness, and normal mapping uses light to add details to the models.

I'm not up to speed in 3d modelling lingo, but I can tell you that all I use is normal mapping with alpha masks, and it's better than bumpmapping (even though I've referred to normal mapping as bumpmapping before)
