It wasn't credit lending as a whole, it was lending to the WRONG people. I would imagine that banks would not be quite as dumb as they were before, giving the massive losses some of them are posting.
true facts: giving loans to people who cant afford them gives extra profits off late fees, missed payments, etc. credit card companies have actually been known to target people who cant afford credit cards in order to generate more profit for their companies. lenders arent likely to discontinue these policies as long as the potential for additional profit is there.
