Welcome to the forums.

Hmm, I really dont know myself, I usually get maps by playing online and then having them downloaded. Look for custom map servers they usually have good maps in their rotations.

Sorry the website couldnt help you with this, we are working on adding more content.
Ya, rly.

Thats a tough one. I am quite dissapointed with HL2 at this moment. All this talk about mods, and great things. All I see is HL2dm which is so ....eh.

All the hype and no follow through. At least not yet anyways.

Your best bet is to just hit up yahoo and search, "HL2 map pack" or "hl2 maps" and go with what comes up. Most download sites have a download ranking, so you can check out which maps are most popular.

thanks guys, this has all been helpful!

I'm a bit wary of mappacks though, I downloaded 6 of them before I even started playing deathmatch, and they were full to the brim of 'my first map' type stuff. Most of them weren't even multiplayer, they were just singleplayer 'look what i can do with physics' junk.

I've gotten the two fileplanet mappacks now, hope they're a bit better.

Also deleted all of the extracted maps from the original 6 mappacks!

Brent, I've downloaded sourceForts! Looks great, I can't wait to give it a try. how does it work though? Do you build forts using the gravity gun, or is it more engineer type stuff?

With source forts, there is a build time that you build your fort (you dont have to wait to setup or unlock peices) and then the fight time where you play CTF with your two forts. While in fight mode, you can be an engineer, but as I said earlier it takes longer to modify peices. You can even slowly take down parts of the enemy base, as they can to you, so watch for sparks flying.

Oh... I thought you'd build an actual structure using the gravity gun & physics objects or something, then try to destroy the enemy's fort!

Still, it sounds like good fun.

hmmm... just had a look at the site. Looks like you DO use physical objects.

Thought for a sec there it was like classbased mp, where an engineer can build certain objects. My bad.

http://maps.google.com/
That place has some awesome maps.

If you want some good HL2 maps, I have always used the fileplanet map packs. One of our members DvS made some kickass outer space DM one that was in one of the Fileplanet map packs. Angora I think it was called. Man, I wonder how DvS is doing?
