alrighty, half way through 18 months of hardcore game dev school.. finally... been progressing with modeling, and learned how to texture properly and all that, so here's my showcase to display stuff as i'm going along through this school of hell.
My brain hurts.

I like that book pic, it looks like something out of morrowind, which increases my sexual desire toward Oblivion.

thx poly, that dude is for a mod we've started at school for unreal 2k4. We actually didn't mean to make anything look like oddworld, it was quite a coincidence that we started an alien western lol. I'm hopin soon to get a site together and get it out in the mod community, its really the best way to get feedback on a game.

now that you have your fat guy laid out, spend about 20 mins with an imported reference image and ffd boxes or lattice work, and match your proportions up to the photograph of the fat guy.


www.3d.sk. alot are very los res, but will give you enough to match your proportions to. the beard is good, but the skelatal structure of the face is off. its a common mistake of someon learning how to model before learning how to draw wink.gif


with the face, the hard edged cheaks need to be pushed back. look at your arms and elbows, and don't give the guy chicks legs. the jacket should hang straight after it moves over the bellty roll.


right now the base is done, but you'd be amazed what you could turn that into looking at alot of reference images

Yes but art is not real life. Over exageration helps develop character, but I dont think that is what he was aiming for.

very correct. but there is also a formula to exageration. gangly elbows ain't part of it wink.gif



theres good exageration and good dynamic porportionns
