Photoshop tut: By Sitniz for the HL2C boards. Permission needed to be shared on another site. They say a magician never shares his tricks, but who needs magic when you have photoshop?LAYER: BackgroundStep 1:
Press D (for default colors)Step 2:
Filter > Render> CloudsStep 3:
Filter > Render> Lens Flare (the 105 one I think)Step 4:
Filter > Distort > SphereizeStep 5:
Smooth out that line with blur.LAYER: RingStep 6:
Circle marquee tools hold shift to make a perfect circle. Make a circle as big as you can fill the screen with. Fill it in with a light or dark grey.Step 7:
Make another circle marquee. Keep in mind this wil be the inside circle, so make it as big as you feel makes the left over space a nice ring. Delete this marquee.Step 8:
With both layers on, delete any of the cloud render you can see from behind the sphere (on the outside, not in the middle.Step 9:
With Ring layer active goto Filter > Render > Lighting Effects. Play around with this setting till you get a good shine.LAYER: Tentacle (1,2,3,4)
Keep in mind for each tentacle you will create a new layer.Step 10:
Uses the retangular marquee tool roughly the height that you want your tentacle to be long. (Note: You can change tentacle length with Free transform later (Ctrl + t)).Step 11:
Fill marquee with gradient of white to another color. Be sure when you fill it in there is white in the middle surrounded on its right and left side, not top and bottom. This is a linear gradient I believe.Step 12:
With the marquee selected go to Edit > Transform > Perspective. Bring the top of the retangle to a point.Step 13:
Press Crtl + t for free transform, narrow your tentacle to a good size.Step 14:
With the tentacle selected go to Filter > Distort > Shear (Repeat around edges selected.) Play around with points and lengths until you get a good wavy tentacle.Step 15:
Rotate the tentacle to which ever way you want it yo be coming out of. Hide the end of it behind an edge of the ring.
Repeat steps 10-15
for however many tentacles. Or, you can just copy paste into a new layer and play around with shear some more, but that doesn't give you and variations with the shading of your tentacles, thus dulling the end result.LAYER: TextStep 16:
Install a cool font. The one I used was one called DreamScar. It came from a great site at www.1001freefonts.com
. Favorite it.Step 17:
Place this layer in the top position.Step 18:
Type your text, set its color to pure whiteStep 19:
Right click on text layer select blending options.Step 20:
In the first setting set its mode to multiply. Your text should dissapear.Step 21:
Apply both Inner shadow and Bevel and Emboss Layer Styles from the lower menu.
Step 22: Play with settings until you have your desired effectStep 23:
